Your first run
with us

You do not need to be fast, and you do not need to run far. You only need to show up. Here is everything you need to know.

1

Pick a run

Open the run calendar and choose an easy run or Monthly Miles. Each run shows the start point, the time and the distances on offer.

2

Arrive ten minutes early

Find the run leader, tell them it is your first time and roughly how far you can run or walk. They will put you in the right group.

3

Run with a group

Groups run at a pace where you can still talk. Walk breaks are normal. Nobody finishes alone.

What to bring

  • Comfortable running shoes and light clothes.
  • Water. In summer, carry it on every run.
  • A cap and sunscreen once the sun is up.
  • Something bright or reflective for runs that start in the dark.
  • Your phone, with an emergency contact saved.

Types of run

  • Easy run: relaxed, conversational pace. The best start.
  • Long run: the weekend run that builds endurance, from 10 to 30 km and more.
  • Tempo: a steady, comfortably hard effort.
  • Hills: repeats on Bhujiyo hill for strength.
  • Monthly Miles: open to all, walk, jog or run.

Before you start

If you have a heart condition, high blood pressure, diabetes, are pregnant or have not exercised for a long time, please check with your doctor before running. Runners under 18 join with a parent or guardian's consent. You can try a few group runs first; regular runners are asked to become members.
