How we run together

Run etiquette
& code of conduct

A few simple rules keep every runner safe and welcome. By joining a Bhuj Runners run you agree to follow them.

On the road

  • Run facing oncoming traffic where there is no footpath.
  • Run in single file on narrow or busy roads, never more than two abreast.
  • Follow the run leader and marshals; stop at red lights and junctions.
  • No headphones on group runs, or one ear at low volume at most.
  • Wear something reflective before sunrise.

In the group

  • Be on time. Runs start at the published time.
  • Run in the pace group that suits you today, not your best day.
  • Tell the leader if you turn back or leave the route.
  • Wait at turn points and regroup. Nobody is left behind.
  • Help anyone who is unwell and call the leader at once.

Respect

  • Every runner is welcome, whatever their age, gender, pace, religion or background.
  • Zero tolerance for harassment, in person or online. Women's safety comes first on every route.
  • Ask before you photograph or post someone, and respect a "no".
  • Be courteous to residents, drivers and animals on the route.

Kutch first

  • Leave nothing behind: carry gels wrappers and bottles home.
  • Keep Smritivan, the hills and the Rann plastic-free.
  • Respect memorials, temples and private land.

Your health is your responsibility

Bhuj Runners organises group runs as a community of volunteers. Run within your limits, consult your doctor if you have any medical condition, and stop if you feel unwell. In hot weather, run early, drink regularly and cut the distance. Repeated or serious breaches of this code may lead to removal from runs or membership, as decided by the club's trustees.
